About a month ago, my great roommate discovered that the horse races were beginning their new season yesterday. So she put together a group of awesome people to go to said races. Naturally we would be expected to dress up. It's a pretty classy pass time, right? Right! Most girls decided to wear big hats like in the epic movie musical "My Fair Lady" as seen
here (at about 6:30). I however decided to dress up more 40's vintage because of
this article. And, hey, why not dare to be different, right? Here are pics of our costumes...
I am like a star shining brightly.... Who decided to put the girl in the yellow dress front and center? Yikes!
Roommate picture! (Minus one, who stayed home sick :( ...)
It also happened that Saturday at the horse races was the food truck festival. So there were about 50+ amazing food trucks to choose from for lunch and general munching. I had a chicken taco from Komodo. It was delicious! And super light and refreshing (which was much needed in the 90+ weather in Santa Anita). I didn't place a bet at the races but had so much fun trying to pick who would win and cheering loudly from our box seats. I have to say, horse races are A LOT of fun and totally unpredictable. I would highly recommend this activity as something to do at least once in your life. Hooray for horses!
Side note... best names of horses... Dusty Bottoms, Kvetch, Your Lucky Day, Mental Giant, Hot Ride, Ruler of Dubai, and Game on Dude... to name a few. Love it!!!!
