Hiking

I went on a hike in Malibu today. It was beautiful! It was a pretty long drive up there. The Pacific Coast Highway is a really nice drive though so I didn't mind so much. Here is one of the great views along the trail....

Love the haze over the ocean.

I didn't go very far because this warning freaked me out and I was totally alone. Like no one anywhere to be seen. And I kept hearing cracking sticks and what not. I really think watching crime TV has ruined my chances of enjoying a hike alone. Also animals with teeth that would attack me ruin it.

I have now decided that hiking alone is probably not the smartest idea. And I will only go where there are lots of other people around or with a friend.

A couple weeks ago I hiked to the Hollywood sign. There were lots of people around and no mountain lion warnings. My kind of hike. It was a good 45 minute hike up and 35 minutes down.

 Pretty smoggy view of LA....
 The view of the valley...
 The Hollywood sign....
I really enjoy nature when it doesn't freak me out. Maybe I should start a hiking group? When I was in NY I was part of a hiking group and it was lots of fun. I saw a book at Barnes & Nobles with details of LA area hikes. This could be a fun group to put together. Hmmmm things to consider.....

Funny story! When Greg and I were first married we lived in Thousand Oaks for a Summer. Since he worked crazy long hours I thought I would take a hike at a local nature preserve. I didn't get 100 feet in before seeing that very same mountain lion sign. I turned right back around and went home. No Mountain Lions for this girl!

There's a really cool hike in Pasadena that I've been to. It's only a mile in I think and there's a waterfall at the end you can swim in. A hiking group sounds like fun!
